One local legend called this place the Nest of the Mountain Spirit. The current tourism name does not come from the flower but from the role the rocks once served for the inhabitants of the Karkonosze Foothills. In old times, they had no other timekeeper, so they used the Sun’s position. When it was over the Sunflower, it marked noon. It is located on the Polish-Czech Friendship Road, also known as the Main Sudetes Trail. Tourists can take the cable car to Kopa and hike the red and black trails or walk the entire route on the yellow trail from Karpacz. The route is somewhat challenging, but the views along the way make the effort worthwhile.
